The centerpiece of the community itself is Pierce Park Elementary school, making it convenient for families with children. Students also attend Riverglen Junior High, about three-quarters of a mile away, and Capital Senior High, just over two miles from Pierce Park. The neighborhood was named for a park that existed in the early 20th-century, complete with roller coasters, an artificial lake, summer theater, and golf links, providing an interesting slice of history. After it was purchased by the Plantation Company, it was replaced by the Plantation Golf Club, which is located on the site today, now known as the River Club. The private 18-hole course sits along the Boise River and is welcoming to all members of the community who can enjoy some of the best greens in the Treasure Valley.
